Chronology of cameras Gilles, E.
This tourist camera, is a French manufacturing by E. Gilles company and dates of the late nineteenth century, around 1880 as evidenced by the production of the bellows which asked a lot of work. This bellows has not withstood competition from more conventional bellows and less expensive design. This camera has been used during the collodion era.
It is probably a successor of E. Gilles who associated with Faller to create the Gilles Faller company.
The remarkable point of this room, except the bellows are as follows:
- Dovetail assembly which again is dating this camera circa 1880.
- Slots of the screw heads are positioned in the direction of the wood grain, which makes the assembly more aesthetic.
- The holding in position of the bellows is through English style locks.
